HOW IS THE HUMAN ENERGY FIELD PERCEIVED?
We are immersed in various energy fields, including the electromagnetic and gravitational fields. A more intense or dense energy field surrounds an object or living being.
Modern science is slowly giving us the technological tools to measure energies in and around the body. The Acupuncture system began to gain acceptance in the medical field once modern science caught up with thousands of year old science and westerners could finally measure the energy at the acupoints.
People have been perceiving the human energy field since the dawn of time. Energy fields may be perceived either by sight if one has developed any amount of clairvoyance (clear sight), by sound if one is clairaudient (clear hearing), or by touch if one is clairsentient (clear touch). The human energy field has been photographed using Kirlian photography, a camera that captures the electro-magnetic fields around the body.
Visually, in a state of 'perfect' health, the field looks like concentric ring layers of color around the body with additional colors emanating from the charkas. The Chakras are energy centers within the body which can be measured with scientific instruments or dowsing. In a state of 'dis-ease', there are "holes" in the field, or asymmetric variations of color.
Through hearing, the aura is perceived as being filled with tones or sounds, which resonate at different frequencies for each chakra and at varied distances from the body.
By touch, the aura may be sensed as pulses, waves, tingling, warmth, or a variety of types of sensations. When the body is in harmony, there are thousands of pulses, some tiny, some quite strong, which beat in a very slow rhythm. Any stress on the body will excite (speed up) certain pulses in the area of distress.
Each of these descriptions - sight, sound and touch - are different modalities of perception of the same thing, the body and its energy field.
Disturbances in the human energy field ultimately translate into dis-ease such as a stiff neck, shortness of breath or some other symptom of the body. Treatment using any healing modality (such as medicine, complementary medicine, physical massage, herbs, prayers, drugs, or affirmations), whether it is allopathic (modern medicine) or homeopathic (natural curing) will affect the physical body as well as the energy field.

WHAT IS CORD CUTTING?
As with any healing related verbiage, there are as many definitions of cording and cord cutting as their are modalities (which number in the thousands if not millions). What follows is a result of my perceptions, my practices with myself and clients, and my understanding of the phenomenon.
What is a cord? I am talking about energy cords, mostly between people, although people can cord to animals, plants and places. The easiest example is the cording of a loving mother to a child. The kind of connection that allows a mother in one location to know in-the-moment that something horrible has happened to her child living in another part of the world. Healthy cording spontaneously happens between parents and their children, between siblings, between lovers or spouses. The challenge comes in when we create connections which are unhealthy for us, or when we're seemingly complete with a relationship of any sort that we hold on to long after we should be letting go.
How are cords perceived? Awareness on a common level is that we think about the other frequently, perhaps too frequently. Or that someone is living 'rent-free' in your head. Or "I just want to move on." Depending on how one perceives energy (refer to article: How is the human energy field perceived?) will inform how one perceives cording. Personally, I feel them and then see them on myself, and on others, I tend to see them. Some of them look like whispy phone wires. Others look more like heavy appliance electrical cords. While still others look like small tree trunks with roots wound around body parts like the spine or the womb.
What is cord cutting? Cord cutting is a process by which you detach from whomever you have attached yourself to. I've learned from other teachers or healers about 15 different ways to do cord cutting. And I frequently 'get' to cut or dissolve cords in some new way during a session that makes sense to me later in the discussion portion of the session.
Do you cut ALL the cords? There are differences of opinion on this. I think it's a good idea to cut all the energy cords coming off the body, since we will often re-place them anyway as soon as we think of someone with any kind of emotional 'charge'. I compare it to going into an old dusty house that no one has entered in 50 years. All of the electrical and phone cords are covered in dust and grime. It's a good idea to go through the house, disengage all the cords, trash the ones that no longer serve you, and wash off the ones you want to keep and then plug them back in.
Is cord cutting permanent? That all depends on you! People in your life currently, you will most probably re-cord with healthier in-the-moment connections, having let go of some baggage. Tree-trunk sized cords that still hold life lessons for you may come back smaller. A lot of the historical cords which no longer serve you will tend to gone for good.
How do I get my cords cut? If you can perceive them, you can cut them. I may get to writing an article on that sometime. Otherwise, there are plenty of healers who offer that service. Clients who do a series of sessions with me frequently do cutting with me at some point in their process.

DO YOU PRACTICE FAITH HEALING?
DO I NEED TO BELIEVE SOMETHING FOR IT TO WORK?Energy Healing can run the gamut including
- deeply invasive medical procedures with highly technical gadgets;
- prayer or faith healing, including calling on God or gods, requiring specific beliefs or faith in a particular religion or outlook on life or reality;
- quantum physics based influence of the electromagnetic and other vibrational fields in and around the body.
All of the modalities I use are based in influencing the vibrational fields in and around the body. No faith is required on my part, or on the part of my clients.
I have worked with individuals who are deeply Christian, including Evangelicals, deeply Jewish, long time Hindus, lifelong and convert Buddhists, and folks who believe in all sorts of interesting and different new and old age belief systems of varying complexities.
The only belief system that does not work with any non-medical treatment is a belief system that absolutely and unequivocally declares that any non-medical treatment will absolutely and unequivocally not work. In such cases, even if there is a dramatic change in the person's Self-Awareness Inventory immediately after a session, within as little as 30 minutes, the person's belief in not believing is so strong they will immediately restore their body and their energy field to pre-session status.
In summation, I do not practice faith healing and clients can believe or not believe whatever they like.

DO YOU PRACTICE REIKI?
The Reiki I studied with Barbara Weber Ray, PhD, was the Authentic Reiki ® The Radiance Technique ® in the early 1980's when Dr. Ray was visiting in Minnesota. Over the last couple of decades the word reiki has become a generic term for many kinds of energy healing, some bearing no relation to the original Reiki passed directly from Mrs. Hawayo Takata to Barbara Weber Ray, PhD. You may find more information on the particulars of this methodology on their website Authentic Reiki ®. Reiki is based on the ideas of radiating energy according to their specific attunments and use of symbols. I did practice The Radiance Technique ® for several years by itself or in conjunction with therapeutic massage or other energy healing techniques I studied.
The underlying concept of reiki, as I understand it, is that with more universal life force or energy we can heal anything. I have found that healing is frequently not about the body needing more energy, it is about unblocking the blockages we create as we move poorly in our bodies, believe our thoughts, and refuse to feel and and let flow our emotions.
To that end, I have found that Energy Balancing is most effective for my self and my clients both in clearing blockages and in increasing energy flow within the body. In the circumstances when I think a more directed modality is in order for the purpose of offering a higher vibration to the body, I find Quantum Touch® to be my choice.
In summation, I do not practice reiki.
