WHAT IS ENERGY BALANCING?
In short, the energy balancing technique I use is a remote (aka non-local, aka distant) form of energy healing whereby I perceive pulses in your body and in the energy field surrounding your body, in an approximately 3-6 foot radius. In this particular practice, the pulses change upon observation, returning to a slower, calmer pulse that is closer to the pulse found in nature.
Before and after each balance, you have a chance to do a Self-Awareness Inventory of your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual body.
After the balance and your inventory, we share our experiences of the session. Frequently, clients have sensations, feelings, and/or thoughts that are unusual for them, and it is helpful to share and discuss them. During the balance, I take notes that constitute an energy analysis, which many clients find helpful.

THE DEVELOPMENT OF ENERGY BALANCING
Since the beginning of my healing practice in 1980, I have always received intuitive 'tips' on what to do and how to do it. The Energy Balancing (EB) I practice has evolved to a point where it no longer fits any recognized specific style of healing of which I am aware.
In my early studies and practice of a variety of energy healing modalities, I soon began to feel a pulse in my hands when I did any kind of healing work. Others who considered themselves well educated in alternative healthcare or spiritual methods offered all sorts of definitions of what the pulse was. Without any kind of measurable proof, I continued to define the pulse as I experienced it. If I am out in the woods during a long walk alone in nature and I stop and open my hands, I feel a very slow pulse which is always the same. I also feel this pulse around rocks and plants. As my hands approach humans, the pulse becomes faster. As I approach an area of the body in distress, the pulse can become very quick indeed. I found that if I kept my attention on the pulses in my hands, they would begin to calm to a slower pulse, approaching that very calm pulse from the woods.
It was not until the mid-80's when I read "Stalking The Wild Pendulum" by Itzhak Bentov, a scientist, (available on my Reading List) that I discovered that there was indeed a scientific explanation of what was happening. Bentov clearly explained that if you took a variety of clocks and other pendulums, placed them all in a room together, and set them going at all different rates, over time, they would all come into alignment with the longest, slowest pendulum. Ah-ha! That perfectly explained my experience with the pulses.
I found it curious, that the pulses would come to rest much more quickly if I merely observed them versus actually practicing the energy manipulation techniques I was studying. It seemed that the bodies we live in are far more brilliant than our minds. The more I studied, the more complex the various systems became, whether they were from China, India, Tibet, or US 'new age' modalities. It seemed as if everyone wanted to complicate what was becoming clear to me was very, very simple. It all came down to paying attention to the body in a very specific, conscious fashion.
As I came to practice this simple observation, while moving my hands in symetrical or asymetrical patterns along the body (for example, right and left shoulder or right shoulder and left hip), the body would reach a very deep level of calm, and the client would report profound relaxation and release of stress on all levels.
It occured to me that it was similar to a common communication technique. If, for example, you had a difficult emotionally-charged issue or decison to make, you ask others for help, be they professionals, friends or family. Frequently, if this other person tells you who you are, how you should think, or what you should do, for a lot of us, that is not very helpful. If, on the other hand, the person listens intently, puts all their attention on you, and does not interact with approval or disapproval, you come to your own brilliant conclusion which is perfectly right for you.
It seemed logical to ask why the body would be any different from the mind. If we heal ourselves with the attention of others for matters of the mind, wouldn't it make perfect sense that we could heal our bodies with the exquisite attention of others to all levels of existance? This explanation sufficed until I stumbled onto quantum physics. Quantum physics is the studying of the very small. Atoms and smaller. Quantum physics has given us semi-conductors, superconductors, fission, fusion, and branches of quantum mechanics that are far too numerous to list here. And why should we care about this?
Werner Heisenberg, a german physicist, winner of the Nobel Prize for his work, a founding father of quantum physics, is best known for the Uncertainty Principle and the Observer Effect. I will leave it to you to do some reading and research into quantum physics (several understandable books are on my Reading List) to get into detail. Heisenberg proved that if you set an experiment to prove a sub-atomic entity is a particle or a wave, the very act of you observing the experiment, determines the outcome of the experiment. Perhaps needless to say, the philosophers and the metaphysicians have been having a field day ever since with the implications in the larger world.
Perhaps you are already making the connection between the impact of observing sub-atomic particles and the impact of observing pulses in and around the body that I did when I first read about Heisenberg. Hence the very beginning of my being aware that my work was somehow in sync with quantum physics.
As I continued to practice, I found my ability to sense the pulses get much stronger, and I started to be able to regularly feel these pulses within about a 3 to 6 foot radius beyond the body. As I began to perceive and balance pulses around the body, my clients reported a new level of responding to the work.
As I worked more and more off the body, it was inevitable that I would be working to balance points I simply could not reach with my physical hands. So I began 'pretending' to use my virtual hands. I would be standing 3 feet below their feet, and place my virtual hands 3 feet above their heads. Occassionally clients would suddenly open their eyes on the table and look above their heads and then look around til they saw me below their feet and exclaim, "I was sure you were at my head". After enough occurrances of that, it became clear that working virtually really was real as well as effective.
It required the prodding of a few of my most sensitive clients for me to begin to work long distance with clients in other parts of the country, while I remained in my office. I was repeatedly surprised during my test cases with people that I had never met, that their responses to the work were much more profound then my local clients. When I worked long distance on a few clients that I had worked on in person, I received the feedback that the sessions were better because they felt they were much more in their own space and far more attuned to their breathing, their thinking and their feeling.
I now exclusively work long-distance with Energy Balancing whether my clients live across the world, or down the street.
THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE NUMBER FOUR (4)
As we look at any body or object there are four directions (up, down, right and left). Historically, the number four has a rich legacy in many traditions. Four is the number of creation, the directions (north, south, east and west) and the seasons (spring, summer, fall and winter). It can also represent the foundation - of life, of a building, of being down-to-earth. The goal at Energy Healing 4 Balance is to assist the client in reaching balance in the four major aspects of the body (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual) through vibrational alignment throughout the body's energy field in the four directions concurrently.
